Mount of Olives. Garden of Gesthsemane. Kidron valley. Shrine of the Book.

We visited the garden tomb area near the old city and saw some 1st century era tombs.

Then we went to Bethphage, where the Palm Sunday Procession began.  We walked to the Mount of Olives and through the Jewish and Christian cemeteries.  We saw the Basilica of Agony, where Jesus wept, and the Garden of Gesthsemane.  As we walked through the Kidron Valley we saw the tombs of the ancients.

We ended the day at the Isreal Museum and the “shrine of the book” (Dead Sea scrolls).  There is 1:50 scale model of Jerusalem from the second temple era that was a fascinating illustration of the old city.
