Greek Orthodox in Church of Holy Sepulcher

Greek Orthodox Service in Church of Holy Sepulcher. (Turn volume on). The reverence and vestments are incredible!  The church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem was established by Roman Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena in about 326 A.D.. The church is built over the proposed sites of both Calvary and the empty tomb of Jesus. The building has gone through many changes over the centuries, but still stands in the same location, and is still a revered site for Christian pilgrims to the holy land.

Six Christian groups share responsibility for the church and its many chapels: Roman Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Ethiopian Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox and Coptic Orthodox.  Cooperation among the groups has been challenging and is the source of numerous stories, both funny and disheartening. The groups have recently agreed on some major restoration projects and in the process discoveries that illuminate the history of the church are still being made.
