Happy Easter!
Happy Easter!!!
He is Risen. He is risen, Indeed!
Alleluia!
We had a great day in Worship at Church and a wonderful time of food and family at home (too much food and deserts).
Easter Day seems so early this year! I keep hearing that and honestly it is early. The Council of Nicea (325AD) set the date of Easter as…. “the Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox on March 21. This full moon may happen on any date between March 21 and April 18 inclusive. If the full moon falls on a Sunday, Easter Day is the Sunday following. Easter Day cannot be earlier than March 22 or later than April 25. Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, falls in the seventh week before Easter. The Ascension of Our Lord occurs on a Thursday, forty days after Easter Day. The Day of Pentecost is seven weeks, or the fiftieth day, after Easter Day.” (Lutheran Service Book)
That is crazy how detailed and thought out the church year and the feast of Easter is determined.
I post many random things on this site - but the most important thing to me is salvation - eternal life.. As a christian I am concerned about the well being and salvation of others. Easter is the pinnacle moment of salvation. It is a celebration of Jesus’ victory over death and hell and it means our victory over death and hell.
I believe this message to be the most important thing I can share with my friends, family and neighbors. It is why I am a pastor. It is the foundation of my life, my work and I pray my family.
Have a blessed Easter Season (it’s more than just a day, it’s a season - but stop with the jelly beans and chocolate - so full… ugh).
