Magdala Stone!
Magdala Stone - Magdala Israel. On our way back to Jerusalem we stopped to see the archeological site of Magdala (home of Mary Magdalene and an interesting cross section of Jewish and early Christian faith). Discovered in the center of a first-century C.E. synagogue at the Galilean site of Magdala, the Magdala Stone bears one of the earliest images of the seven-branched menorah. The Magdala stone is a carved stone block unearthed by archaeologists in a Galilean synagogue in Israel, dating to before the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in the year 70. The stone stood in the center of the Migdal Synagogue, and is tall enough to have been used as a reading desk or podium by someone in a seated position.
