Fun Volunteer Opportunity!

The other day a friend forwarded me a post about a Minnesota lost dog search team looking for Part 107 Licensed Drone Pilots. They are looking for pilots to fly thermal drones looking for lost pets in different areas of the state. I responded even though I have no experince with thermal drones. And was accepted. They provide the equipement (thermal drones are $$).

There will be some training and it is very much a “respond if your able kind of situation.” I have joined the Facebook Group and look forward to hearing what might happen with this opportunity in the future.

On a sad note - in the short time I have joined the group many dogs have been lost! I would never have guessed. But also what a great group of people who reunite lost dogs with families.

February 2024 Update.

They “had another thermal drone” for me to use. The other day they dropped of a huge box!!

I am very impressed with the set up!! It really has everything. External monitor, landing pad, 8 batteries, backpack, hard case, vest, business cards, spot light for night and even a hat!

Margery said “do these people know you?” meaning why would they trust you with this much $$ in equipment. Spouces can be so cruel.

So now it is time to practice! I have a good friend who is going to let me chase his kid’s thermal image around the woods or try to hide from me!

The organization knows that I am super busy around Christmas and Easter and they understand. I hope I can reunite a dong with its owner!
