Well the next trip is on hold…

Update…. War in Israel. We were super excited to have locked in the dates for our next biblical archeology adventure. Israel in January 2024! We had our flights and were working on hotels and rental cars!

A number of years ago we promised our son Jake that we would take him to Israel and have had to post-pone several times (mostly my fault with different surgeries). This would be our first time visiting Israel “on our own” - it will just be the three of us. The plan was to fly into Tel Aviv and rent a car. We would drive to the Biblical sites in Galilee, then head south to Masada and the Dead Sea. The plan was then to return the rental car and take metro to Jerusalem (everyone says “do not attempt driving in Jerusalem”). From Jerusalem we could walk, use a taxi, and take day trips to different sites.

Our first trip to Israel in 2020 was a whirlwind of amazing experiences. It ignited a passion, hobby and dream (scriptureinstone.org). We are eager to return to many of the same sites (and some new ones) and see many places where we feel we missed seeing things. Also our photography was not great! We’ve learned a few things since then!

I was also going to bring the drone along. I have already registered my drone and have my authorization. There are many no fly zones in Israel. But most often finding a vantage point just outside of the “zone” will allow for some good shots. I will do my best! Margery will is very cautious and conservation and will keep me from being arrested!

Late December and early January is not the ideal time to travel to Israel - it is definitely “off season” and weather potentially could be rainy. Flights and hotels are significantly less expensive.

While I update this there is war in Israel. It is very hard for the western world to grasp the politics, culture and religious nature of the Middle East. I will not try. LOL. But I will ask you to join me in praying for peace and safety for all who call this area of the world their home.
