Golan Heights. Dan. Caesarea Philippi

The day was spent in the upper Galilee area (Golan Heights).  We traveled to the intersection of Israel, Syria and Lebanon.

There are signs of the political/religious tensions that exist in this area.  We saw tanks and areas fenced off with “Danger Mines” signs.   Beyond the border we could see the road that Paul would have taken to Damascus where he had his conversion to Christianity.

We stopped at the archeological site of the city of Dan and then finished our travels at Caesarea Philippi - an area know for pagan worship - in particular Pan (half goat/half man with flute).   There is a cave there that is know as a gate to hell.  It’s with that background that Peter makes his confession “you are the Christ, the son of God... and Jesus responds even the gates of hell can not over power his church...”

There was a beautiful sunset over the Sea of Galilee.
