Timna Reserve. Dead Sea. Ibex
Early this morning we crossed back into Israel from Aqaba Jordan. Our leader had us leave extra early for the border crossing. This was fortunate as the border was closed hours later due to COVID19. This is the first time that COVID19 was becoming a reality for us!
We traveled through northern Sinai to the Timna Reserve (part of Midian). We saw ancient Egyptian copper mines. It was hot and sandy - when the scriptures say the Israelites complained to Moses I get it, especially after 40 years. We also saw Solomon’s Pillar’s (does not really have anything to do do with Solomon - Egyptian Worship site).
Part of the nature reserve is a made to scale - real size replica of the tabernacle. It seems much smaller than I have always imagined. And last but not least is Margery had an Ibex sighting.
We moved north to the Dead Sea area. Margery and I walked the shore. Very pretty. The salt water is a very odd sensation.
We then drove about three hours north to the Sea of Galilee area where we will stay the next few days.
