Malta - St. Paul’s Bay and drone disaster!

May 13, 2023

We arrived in Malta mid morning today. we’ve only seen the areas around the bays so far. Beautiful old buildings all of the same color stone built right to the waters edge.

While the group spent the afternoon exploring Valletta, Craig and I and Lucky - another group member - went to the first few drone sites. Poor Lucky got stuck driving the rental car through crazy winding narrow streets, on the left side of the road while sitting in the wrong side of the car! We all lived, and not a scratch on the rental. Whew!

The droning was quite stressful. Very high winds today - we could hardly keep ourselves upright at St Paul’s Bay, the proposed site of Paul’s shipwreck in Acts 27. The wind was so strong that the drone could not fly back and used up its battery trying. After well over an hour searching the area we gave up and spent the rest of the day sourcing a replacement drone in Valletta. The gentleman who helped us has a shop in Valletta that is probably less than 100 square feet and makes a fine living from tourists who come to Malta with a drone and lose it in the sea - he had every model there is! But seriously, please pray for success tomorrow.

We have just a few pictures today of St Thomas bay, another possibility for the shipwreck bay, and a few from St Paul’s Bay. Hopefully more tomorrow! Good night and God Bless - missing you all.
