Cappadocia. Goreme. Derinkuyu

Today we explored the cave churches/monasteries of Goreme.  Approximately 10 century AD.   I recorded a woman singing, our translator said she is Christian from Russia (singing in Russian).   The frescos were vivid and honestly breath taking.

The chapels and monastery of Goreme were a climb up into the rock formations... and then we climbed down into several cave cities that have been used for centuries (1700 BC - 1400 AD), including a Christian church underground.  The citadel is an entire mountain carved city.

We had an incredible almost surreal day high above ground and way under ground.

It was amazing to see how God’s people overcame obstacles and found way to worship and practice thier faith.
